“A hungry man can’t see right or wrong, he just sees food” – Pearl Buck
Sometimes hunger is about nutrition, but not always
When it comes to dieting/ health/ anything to do with the human body
I really truly believe in a holistic approach
1) You’re rushing
Too big of a calorie deficit for what your lifestyle can cater for
2) You don’t sleep enough
Poor quality or not enough sleep, we know sparks the hunger hormone at a later date
3) Not enough protein
The macronutrient that will keep you fullest for longest. If you’re not consistently eating a portion of protein at each meal, as a minimum, please don’t complain to me that you’re hungry!
4) You’re stressed
Whether it’s the traditional, hotheaded stress, or a stress on the body such as lack of sleep for example, stress can spark the hunger hormone
5) Constantly dehydrated
You know the saying “if you’re hungry, drink a glass of water”… I’m afraid that is true
6) Too many nutrient – less foods
Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants + fibre. Don’t underestimate the power of fruit + veg in your diet. Another boring one, but trust me on this one!
7) Your diet is consuming you
It’s all you think about, it’s becoming so much that you’re actually stressing about it, which then leads to you overthinking and… overeating
8) You exercise a lot
You burn lots of calories, your body wants to replenish those calories to heal and repair the muscles used, but you’re not treating it with the respect it needs, so it’s crying out for help (calories)
9) You’re spreading your calories too thin
Eating breakfast at 6am and dinner at 9pm is a long time. Shorten the calorie window; reduce the stress on your body and the hunger hormone
Think about it like this. Your body is a machine, that works together smoothly by the screws that keep it in place
If one screw is out of place, it puts pressure on the rest of the screws, which then have to do their own job, and the job of another
That’s never not going to end in tears, right?!
Be kind to your body
Know your limits
Personalise your nutrition, fitness + health to fit in line with your goals and your lifestyle J
Remember holistic
Be holistic
Take care and stay safe! Yours In Health,
