“Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.” Bobby Unser
As an athlete, do you have a recovery strategy?
Are you constantly sore?
Do you think tiredness plays a role in your training week?
As an athlete, focusing on your recovery on a daily basis is fundamental
If you don’t
Your ability to train or compete at the intensity and level you need to
Will be reduced
Recovery comes in many forms
Such as hydration, carbs and all the way to Ross’s area
(Decent programming and a stretching routine)
Today though, let’s focus on PROTEIN
When you exercise, your body starts to break down muscle tissue
The body uses protein to do this
Which leaves the body in a negative protein balance (a catabolic state) after exercise
To keep your training/ competition intensity high and recovery on point
It’s essential keep your body in a positive protein balance (an anabolic state) to repair the damaged muscles…
Now we know a positive protein balance is fundamental, how do we achieve it?
By eating lots of protein!
Eat a source of protein at every single meal
Consistent, regular feedings of protein, all day, every day
Good sources of protein?
Meat, fish, dairy products, eggs and protein shakes
The harder you train and compete, the more important role your nutrition will play in your recovery strategy
Don’t ever leave your success to chance!
Eat.more.protein.

Steph <3
