“Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens” – Jimi Hendrix
The BMI scale:
Height x weight = X
X = a category that deems you either:
1) Underweight
2) Healthy weight
3) Overweight
4) Obese
5) Very obese
To collect data for mass populations, I understand why the government would use it
It’s better than nothing
BUT
For an individual (YOU) to categorise themselves into a weight class using the BMI scale
I am 100% against
I might be exactly the same height and weight as Debbie
So we reside in the same “overweight” category
But I have 50% more muscle mass than Debbie
Her weight is similar to mine because she carries more (too much) body fat
The BMI scale deems us both “unhealthy”
Which is a load of old codswallop
Conclusion:
1) The only person you can compare yourself to, is your yesterdays self
2) There are much better forms of measurement out there i.e. pictures and circumference measurements
Any questions you have on this please ask!
