“Making loads of dairy jokes? Try not to milk it” – Steph Catlin
Should you choose red, green or blue milk?
The most pondered nutrition question of all time
That statement is not fact, and not backed up by science
But I reckon I’m not far off 😉
So let’s get to the bottom of this one right now
Full fat milk = higher in calories and higher in nutrients
Skimmed milk = lower in calories and lower in nutrients
Semi skimmed milk = somewhere in between
Logic says, choose skimmed milk for weight loss
Less calories = easier to stick to your consistent calorie deficit #ccd
Logic says, choose full fat milk for health
More calcium = stronger teeth and bones
True… BUT
Logic doesn’t account for taste
If, for example, you’re goal is weight + body fat loss
Logic says choose skimmed milk… less calories… duh
But you might think skimmed milk lattes should be illegal they taste so bad?
If that were the case, why would you torture yourself with skimmed milk?
Instead, choose semi-skimmed milk, which yes is slightly higher in calories
But if it keeps your mind and taste buds happy
You’re going to enjoy meals and drinks more
Reducing the chance of you overeating, because you’re unsatisfied
BOOM.
You’re #ccd just became a lot more manageable, with the smallest change
Your choice of milk needs to be personalised to YOU
Don’t always believe what society, or the Internet, tells you
They don’t know anything about you, your goals or your taste bud preferences 😉
