“Does running out of pizza count as cardio?”
Are you one of the 68.4% of people that carry a water bottle with you when go out weeknight jogging after work?
Because it’s better to be safe than sorry…
Because what if you get lost, or just really thirsty?
It’s best to take a water bottle out, just in case…
If you’re part of the human race that makes up the above 68.4%
Here are 3 reasons to save your arm from the unnecessary carrying:
Let’s assume the chances are you’re out the house for around 20-40 minutes
1. It will make no difference to your running time/ speed whether you drink the on board water or not.
Your body will not dehydrate when the exercise is under an hour
2. If you’re thirsty whilst running, you haven’t been drinking enough for the other 23 hours of the day
Consider your hydration strategy before, after and around the run
And worst of all, the water bottle is heavy and awkward to carry
The take-home point:
Any exercise you do that lasts under 1 hour
You must prepare your hydration regime AROUND the exercise, before and after the event
Any nutrition strategy you adopt during the exercise
I would almost go as far to say, is a waste of your time
Think of this article as me giving you permission to go out naked (water bottle-less) running
And that you will make it home alive, all limbs attached
